At Certified Kind, we believe that the way we farm is just as important as the yield. Our mission is to empower organic cannabis farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

We accomplish this by offering certification to the Certified Kind standard which is equivalent to internationally accepted norms for organic crops and processed products.

Our certification program holds farmers, processors, wholesalers, and retailers accountable to the highest organic standards in the industry.

By getting our certification, you will be able to use the Certified Kind logo to promote organically produced products that meet the Certified Kind standard. Our certification helps connect true organic farmers to retailers, wholesalers, and customers who deeply care about ecosystem health and what they put into their bodies.

Certification

As crop supply chains lengthen, it becomes difficult for folks to "know their grower". Without a tight connection to the grower, how is a consumer supposed to know which products are not grown using chemical fertilizers, or toxic pesticides? Certified Kind offers an effective and transparent way for cannabis producers to prove their commitment to earth-friendly production practices. The Certified Kind program allows growers of legal cannabis to obtain alternative third-party verification that their crops are grown to the Certified Kind standard which is the industry's only true equivalent program to USDA Organic certification.

Education

Part of the tremendous value of participating in Certified Kind is the opportunity to learn. Our certification process empowers growers and processors because it teaches folks the fundamental principles of organic farming and processing. For farmers, Certified Kind requires strategies for controlling economically damaging crop pests, but if you don't know how to control pests using organic approved methods, we teach you. For extractors and edibles processors, you will learn how to prevent contamination and commingling which is a key requirement of organic certification.

Solutions

If you want to go organic but aren't quite there yet, we have a solution for that. Our premium consulting services can provide you with valuable insight, information, and production schedules that can help your company succeed while becoming as sustainable as you want to be. For farmers, our services include increasing soil fertility and plant vigor and pest prevention and control strategies. For processors, we can teach you how to formulate products that meet the Certified Kind standard and also would be eligible for USDA Organic certification.

Material Review

One of the basic rules of organic farming is that with few exceptions, farmers are not allowed to use synthetic fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. Certified Kind generally allows farmers to use materials that have been approved by organizations like OMRI, the WSDA Organic Program, and the CDFA Organic Input Material program. Certified Kind also offers a certification and approval process for Materials Manufacturers that would like to use the Certified Kind logo to market their products.
